Our Vision

Brought to you by the award winning team behind miaitalia, Scoop & Grind is our gelateria on Morecambe’s historic seafront. The concept is simple – to provide Morecambe and it’s visitors with the very best of our locally hand-made, award winning gelato, accompanied by the service we’re renowned for.

So where are we? Well, we’ve taken on the site formerly occupied by the Hart family, on Morecambe Promenade and the corner of Queen Street. The venue has proudly carried the Hart name for decades and has been a firm favourite for lots of people. It was even used in the 1960 film The Entertainer, starring Laurence Olivier! Even before it was taken on by Hart’s, it was a restaurant and has been trading as such for over 100 years.

It was with this in mind that we set our standard and defined the concept. To do away with what the previous owners had created felt sacrilegious, so we wanted to use what was already there – and build on it. So whilst we have changed the name and the decor, this means we have remained with what Hart’s was known for – ice cream and coffee.  Although we make our gelato 50 yards away on Queen Street, and our coffee supplier is the best we’ve found, it will always be the original Hart’s concept that drives us forward. During the transition period, Paul Hart provided plenty of support and advice and continues to pop in to say hello – we were grateful for his blessing for the future.

Our Story

Since starting from a small mobile coffee cart back in 2007, the team behind Scoop & Grind have always had one aim – to be the best at what we do. With over 20 years of hospitality experience, the team are delighted to provide Morecambe with a venue to be proud of – and enjoy welcoming new and existing customers alike.
